Dr. Matt Olson is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult joint reconstruction. He has advanced training and expertise in complex hip, knee, and shoulder replacement procedures. Dr. Olson is dedicated to helping patients reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve their quality of life through both non-operative and operative treatments. Known for his personalized and patient-centered approach, Dr. Olson utilizes the latest surgical techniques, including muscle-sparing approaches and the use of computer and robotic technologies.

Dr. Olson is a highly trained orthopedic surgeon with a comprehensive background in both general and subspecialty orthopedic care. He earned his undergraduate degree from Utah State University before obtaining his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital through Michigan State University, where he developed a solid foundation in surgical technique and patient care. He received training in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and orthopedic trauma at Grady Memorial Hospital through Emory University. Dr. Olson further specialized by completing an adult hip and knee reconstruction fellowship at The CORE Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. His diverse training allows him to provide expert care across a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, with a focus on joint preservation and complex reconstructive procedures.

Dr. Olson grew up in Cache Valley, where he developed a love for the outdoors and strong community values. He served a two-year church mission in Apia, Samoa—an experience that deeply shaped his perspective and continues to influence his life today. He still enjoys speaking Samoan when the occasion permits. Dr. Olson is married and the father of four children. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and taking advantage of Utah’s outdoor opportunities, including skiing, snowmobiling, and hiking. He also enjoys traveling and exploring new places. He has developed a passion for hockey and enjoys both watching and playing when he can.
